Napa Valley · Atlas Peak AVA

Meadowrock Estate

Most Napa vineyards look up at Atlas Peak. Meadowrock is on it.

Volcanic Ground, Mountain Character

Meadowrock Estate sits at 1,400 to 1,760 feet elevation in the Atlas Peak AVA — one of Napa Valley's most demanding and distinctive mountain appellations. The soils here are volcanic, derived from ancient rhyolite and andesite, jagged and mineral-rich in a way that valley floor soils simply are not.

That volcanic character is not subtle. It drives concentration, it builds structure, and it gives the wines a minerality and depth that is unmistakably Atlas Peak. The vines stress here. They dig deep. And what comes out of the ground reflects every foot of elevation.

Alex Guarachi acquired the 60-acre estate in 2014, planting 30 acres to Bordeaux varieties — Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Syrah — across a rugged, mountainside landscape that few would attempt and fewer could make work.

"Atlas Peak doesn't produce polished wines. It produces honest ones — shaped by elevation, hardened by volcanic rock, and built to last."— Julian Gonzalez, Chief Winemaker

Where the Wine is Made

In 2017, a dedicated winery facility was completed at Meadowrock — making this estate not just the source of the fruit, but the home of every wine in the Guarachi portfolio. From harvest through fermentation, barrel aging, and bottling, everything happens here, on the mountain.

Chief Winemaker Julian Gonzalez oversees every stage of production from this facility, working with the estate's Bordeaux varieties to produce two wines that define what Atlas Peak can be: the Meadowrock Cabernet Sauvignon, awarded 97 points by Wine Enthusiast, and the G Red Blend, a 100-point Tasting Panel selection.
