Sun Chase

Sun Chase Vineyard is known for its natural gap between the coastal range mountains and the inland valley. It is one of the most highly sought-after vineyards in the Petaluma Gap, a coastal mountain opening that draws brisk winds and cooling fog from the coast toward the San Pablo Bay. Cool ocean breezes profoundly influence its climate as it sits above the fog line and the winds reduce heat stress on the grapevines, allowing for slow and even maturation of the fruit.

In the early morning, the divine blankets of fog cover these 248 acres, just until the sun breaks through to bring a brief warm climate, and then in the late afternoon, the cool winds and fog return. The Northwest corner (called the Petaluma Gap) of Sonoma County provides a cool maritime climate, with cool ocean breezes blessing the vines, resulting in proven high-quality Pinot Noir.  The hillsides of Sun Chase sit 1,400 feet above the valley floor and receive ample sunlight. Balanced fruit, minerality and a lasting finish are hallmarks of this vibrant Pinot Noir.
