Guarachi Family Wines presents Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast. This appellation is nestled into the western hillside of Sonoma Mountain. The Gap’s Crown Vineyard, where our grapes have grown, is a world-class growing environment for Pinot Noir. This vineyard has three distinct Pinot Noir clones known for their flavor, strong color, superior bouquet and earthiness.
The terroir of this region consists of rocky and well-drained soils, an optimal condition for Burgundian grapes. There are a myriad of soils that can be found at Gap’s Crown including loam and clay. The rocky hillside slopes provide sun exposure that promotes even-ripening while lingering fog trapped in the hills allows the fruit to ripen slowly.
It is loaded with crushed strawberry and black cherry flavors supporters by firm yet silky tannin on the palate.
The microclimate of Gap’s Crown is predominantly influenced by summer, coastal fog that comes in through the Petaluma Gap. The 2009 growing season consisted of moderate to cool temperatures with foggy mornings and cool nights — the ideal conditions for Pinot Noir to reach maturity. This type of growing season also contributes to Sonoma Coast’s rapid rise in popularity for Burgundy varietals.
Our 2010 Guarachi Family Wines Pinot Noir underwent malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels and was aged for 11 months. It is loaded with crushed strawberry and black cherry flavors, with hints of minerality and a persistent finish.
